Ballet Dance

Ballet is a well known style of dance. In ballet your body flows and "flutters" across the stage, performing multiple jumps, leaps, and turns. There are many moves in ballet such as, a pique turn, a split leap, aerial, and many more. Ballet originated from the Italian Renaissance in the 15th century. Today ballet is a widespread style of dance around the entire world. The Nutcracker is an example of a ballet performance held in many cities across the world.

Hip-hop Dance

Hip-hop is street style type of dance, mostly performed to hard hitting, or songs with a good beat. There are many intricate moves to hip-hop, you have popping (where you hit your moves hard creating a look of almost intensity), Locking (such as tutting and pom-ish type moves), isolation (the best way to put this is to look like a robot, only certain parts of their bodies move at a time.), and so much more. Hip-hop is also a form of expression, you can literally can do whatever moves you would like. Most of the time hip-hop is a choreographed style of dance, where your moves flow to the beat, or words of the song.

Lyrical Dance

Lyrical dance is a style of dance the combine ballet, jazz, and sometimes hip-hop moves. Lyrical is faster than ballet, but slower than jazz. Your body in lyrical just "flows" with the words of the music. Lyrical is an expressive type of dance, you can dance to emotion (happy, sad, etc...), the beat of the song, or the words. Lyrical is also a type of dance where you don't have to exactly choreograph a routine to, you can just do what comes to your mind. This girl performs a routine to the song Titanium.
